The Pride of Man and the Forgotten Breath of God.

The human story has always carried a quiet tragedy: we live inside our own souls yet forget the very breath that gave those souls life. Scripture tells us that God formed humanity from the dust and breathed into us the breath of life. That breath was not merely oxygen — it was identity, purpose, communion, and the imprint of God Himself.

We are made in the image of God, yet so often we walk through life unaware of the divine imprint we carry. We rush, we strive, we build, we achieve — but rarely do we pause long enough to recognize the One who animated us in the first place.

The Pride of Man: Living Without Awareness of God’s Breath

Human pride isn’t always loud or arrogant. Sometimes it’s subtle. It shows up when we live as though our thoughts are self‑generated, our strength self‑sustained, our wisdom self‑sufficient.

It shows up when we forget:

  • We are created beings, not accidental ones.

  • We are breathed into, not self‑powered.

  • We are image‑bearers, not independent operators.

Pride convinces us that life is found within ourselves. Truth reminds us that life is found within God’s breath.

The Word of God: Rediscovering the Breath

God did not leave humanity wandering in the dark. He gave us His Word — a living, breathing revelation of who He is and who we are.

When we open Scripture, we inhale again the breath that formed us. We remember:

  • Who created us

  • Why He created us

  • How He calls us to live

  • What He promises to fulfill

The Word of God is not merely information; it is revelation. It is God speaking into the soul He crafted.

Conversation: Where Breath Meets Community

God’s breath is not only recognized in solitude — it is recognized in conversation with others. When believers talk about Scripture, share testimonies, wrestle with truth, and encourage one another, something sacred happens:

The breath of God in one person awakens the breath of God in another.

This is why fellowship matters. This is why discipleship matters. This is why community matters.

We were never meant to walk alone with our own thoughts. We were meant to walk together with God’s breath guiding us.
