Don’t Rush God: The Sacred Practice of Taking Time

ree

In a world that glorifies speed, productivity, and multitasking, it’s easy to let our relationship with God fall into the margins of our busy lives. But spiritual growth doesn’t happen in a hurry. Sanctifying grace—the kind that transforms us into the likeness of Christ—requires time, intention, and stillness.

We cannot rush our spiritual practices. Reading Scripture, reflecting on its truth, and praying deeply are not tasks to check off a list. They are sacred moments meant to be savored. When we approach God as if He is the only one in the room, something shifts. The noise fades. Peace enters.

I say this not as someone with endless free time, but as a husband, father of four, and a man juggling multiple jobs. Life is full. But I’ve learned that if I want to bear fruit for Christ—fruit that others can see—I must make time for Him. Not leftover time. Not rushed time. Intentional, undisturbed time.

And when we do? We receive that peace that surpasses all understanding. The kind of peace that anchors us in storms and radiates to those around us.

So today, let’s make a decision: no more rushing our relationship with God. Let’s replace the mental noise with His Word. Let’s protect our peace, embody peace, and offer peace. Because the quality of our time with Jesus matters far more than the quantity.

Take your sweet time with the Lord. He’s waiting—and He’s never in a rush.
